Nordic Trails & Skiing

Girls day out on hill

At Western Pleasure Guest Ranch, we have cross country ski trails for all levels with the “Meadow Loop” for beginners, the “Big Hill Loop” for a long ski through the trees and a scenic viewpoint framed by the Selkirk and Cabinet Mountains. Return to the lodge for a little relaxation in front of a warm fire. Be sure to check in at the lodge and get a trail pass. You can also find trail updates on our Facebook page.

We do not have nordic ski or snowshoe rentals. Equipment can be rented at the Tauber Farm and Nordic Center located just three miles from the ranch on Gold Creek Road or the Alpine shop in Sandpoint.  If you are looking to try fatbike riding, Greasy Fingers Bikes n Repair has fatbikes for rent.

Trail Reports

February 26, 2017 –

We received a couple inches of snow last night and we are grooming this morning. The report from the groomer is that the Meadow is really grooming up nice with a solid base and fresh corduroy on top. So come out to the ranch and enjoy some great late winter skiing and a cup of coffee on us.

February 24, 2017 – All of our groomed trails are open! These cooler temperatures have allowed us to continue grooming the Big Hill Trail and the Meadow Loop.  Come out to the ranch and enjoy some spring skiing!

February 18, 2017 – The Big Hill Trail is open! The top is a bit soft but the hard packed base is holding and has allowed us to groom the Big Hill Trail. The Meadow Loop remains closed.

February 16, 2017 – Because of the rain, grooming has been discontinued and trails are closed until further notice.

February 11, 2017 – The nordic trails will be groomed and ready to ski by 10:00 am today. Come out to the ranch and enjoy some sunshine!

February 9, 2017 – Due to rain and above freezing temperature we have suspended all grooming. We hope to begin grooming again on Saturday if the weatherman is correct.

February 7, 2017 – Two feet of new snow and freshly groomed trails await you at the ranch! Both the Meadow Loop and the Big Hill Trail are ready for skiers. It won’t be fast skiing today but it sure is beautiful.

February 5, 2017 – Because of snow conditions, the Nordic trails at the ranch are only open to snowshoeing at this time. In the last 48 hours we received over a foot of snow followed by significant rain.
