Nordic Trails & Skiing

Girls day out on hill

At Western Pleasure Guest Ranch, we have cross country ski trails for all levels with the “Meadow Loop” for beginners, the “Big Hill Loop” for a long ski through the trees and a scenic viewpoint framed by the Selkirk and Cabinet Mountains. Return to the lodge for a little relaxation in front of a warm fire. Be sure to check in at the lodge and get a trail pass. You can also find trail updates on our Facebook page.

We do not have nordic ski or snowshoe rentals. Equipment can be rented at the Tauber Farm and Nordic Center (208-255-8883) located just three miles from the ranch on Gold Creek Road, Syringa Cyclery in Sandpoint or the Alpine shop in Sandpoint.  If you are looking to try fatbike riding, Greasy Fingers Bikes n Repair has fatbikes for rent.

Trail Reports

November 17, 2020 –  The snow from last week has transitioned to rain this week.  There is still a dusting of snow on the ground. Keep your fingers crossed for the rain to transition to snow this weekend!

November 13, 2020 –  Nearly six inches of new snow fell overnight with more coming throughout the day. Yeehaw! It looks like Winter has arrived!

November 12, 2020 –  The Nordic Trails are not yet open for the 2020/2021 season.  We received our first “sticking” snow this week with about 3 inches on the ground and more coming down each day. We can’t wait to see you on the trails this Winter.

February 6, 2020 –  The Nordic Trails continue to be closed to skate and classic skiing but open to snowshoeing and fat bikes.  The January thaw we experienced last week made several water cuts in the trails that won’t be an issue for snow shoes or fat bikes but put a real kink in skiing activities.

February 4, 2020 –  Because of warming temps and rain, our Nordic Trails are currently closed to skiing and skating. They are still open to snow shoeing. We will be able to open the trails again when we get more snowfall.

January 20, 2020 –  The trails at the ranch were groomed again in the early hours of the morning. Conditions are near perfect with fast corduroy for skate skiers and set track for classic.
