Let's Recreate Responsibly Together

We are delighted that you are considering joining us at the ranch to experience wide-open spaces, fresh mountain air, and western hospitality. It is our pleasure to share with you the heritage, horsemanship, and heart of the true West. We encourage you to take advantage of your time here at the ranch to unplug from technology and the stresses of everyday life and connect with your friends and family. The last few months have certainly taken our country and the world on quite an unexpected journey.  We find ourselves trying to navigate some unfamiliar trails as we work to keep up with the latest news and global updates.

Every day we are presented with ever-changing numbers, charts, curves, and stats.  The one thing that has not changed is our resolve and our commitment to inviting you our guest-family to our family ranch.  We experience such a blessing in sharing this ranch land with you. When my Great, great, grandparents settled in this area in 1918, they all became ill with the Spanish flu.  That experience did not stop them, it made them stronger and that is our plan as well.

Our life work is to provide you, our guest family, a vacation that brings joy, provides opportunities for personal growth, creates educational experiences, and connects with nature and the ranch culture. Our favorite part of what we do is the relationships that are built with our staff and guests. Our goal is to make everyone feel like part of the WPGR family. Right now our hearts go out to the ranch family across the United States and the World.

Vacationing in a Covid-19 Era

Give me “land, lots of land”…or maybe just a little “wide open spaces”.
Spreading out comes naturally in the West. Cowboys have been giving each other space and asking their horses to keep their space long before the CDC recommended it. Keep a half a horse length distance if you would please.

A tip of the hat will do.
Cowboys love a hardy handshake, but a tip of the hat will do just fine for now.

Cowboys wash up every chance they get!
While cowboys historically didn’t always have opportunities to keep up with personal hygiene, here at WPGR we have made it easy for you. Washing your hands for at least 20 seconds with warm water and soap is no problem for cowboys here. You will also find hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes in several locations throughout the ranch.

Masks are nothing new for Cowboys.

Cowboys often use their bandanas to protect themselves from dust, wind, or cold. We respect your choice to vacation the way that makes you comfortable; whether that is with or without a mask.

Whoa there pard’ner! How ya feeling?
If you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms please do not travel to the ranch until you have been cleared.

Here's What We are Doing:

  • Proactive Communication. We are working hard to answer any questions we receive from our guests in a timely manner. We appreciate your patience during this time as we work hard to give special attention to each and every phone call and email.
  • Staying Informed. We are staying fully informed of the developing situation around the world and locally. We are pulling information from experts within our industry and from sources like the National Park Service, the travel insurance community, and local health districts.
  • Staffing Protocol. We have adjusted protocols in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and our local health district to keep our team safe and healthy.
  • Staying Connected. The crew at WPGR are more than just a team, they are a family. An extension of that family is you, our guests. If you have seen any of our social media accounts lately you will see that Danielle has been sharing moments from daily life on the ranch, educational videos, and checking in with you all in hopes that she can share a little joy, hope for the future, or just five minutes of distraction from the worries of the day.

So, to all of you, our extended ranch family, be well, have faith, and be in touch if you have concerns about your travel future.

– Roley and Janice Schoonover
