Survival Training Weekend Retreat

The "Contingency Survival" weekend retreat, set at the Western Pleasure Guest Ranch, offers an immersive experience in survival skills and outdoor safety. Participants engage in practical field exercises like emergency shelter building, fire crafting, and food procurement. Additional features include overnight options in self-made shelters or comfortable rooms, full board, and access to resort amenities such as a hot tub, rec room, mountain bikes, pickleball court, and nature trails. The course enhances survival skills while providing a comfortable and educational retreat experience.

The Instructor

The instructor for the Contingency Survival weekend retreat is Michael Caughran, who has an extensive background as a USAF SERE (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape) Instructor. Michael brings a wealth of experience from his military service, where he notably graduated from SERE instructor courses with distinction and has contributed significantly to training development in this field. His career is marked by a passion for teaching survival skills and a dedication to promoting personal responsibility and liberty, values he was raised with and continues to champion.

Outside of his military contributions, Michael has also founded a company that manufactures ghillie suits, managed a training academy, and developed tactics and techniques in personal protection that are used by various organizations including the military and law enforcement. His certifications are extensive, covering a wide range of survival skills, personal protection, and emergency preparedness, which ensures that participants in the retreat receive highly professional and practical training​ (American Reconstruction Concepts)​.

Sunday
There will be some time to experience the amazing indoor as well as outdoor facilities while still being able to:

  • Showcase your wilderness home
  • Debrief the night, including clothing and equipment issues
  • Daytime signaling
  • Electronic communications
  • Food and water procurement to include edible plants

And finish up with some time around the campfire!
