As I said in my last post, we are expecting 5 foals this spring and summer at Western Pleasure Guest Ranch. Watching these foals run and play is great source of entertainment for guests staying at the ranch on an All Inclusive Guest Ranch vacation.
Yesterday was a spa day for two of the expecting mothers. Friday and Julie had an afternoon filled with brushing, braiding and beautifying with two very horse crazy neighbor girls. I will let the photos speak for themselves, but it was easy to see that these mares LOVED the attention that they received.
Julie is due to foal in less than a month and I am more than excited about this mare’s foal. Julie is a Percheron/Belgian cross who’s teammate is Jake. These two are a hardworking team that pull sleigh rides in the winter and wagon rides in the summer. Of all the draft horses we have had at Western Pleasure Guest Ranch and all the draft horses I have ever met, Julie is my favorite hands down. She is beautiful, hardworking, honest and the sweetest thing ever. I always find myself drawn to her in the field, in the barn or when she is working. So, when I walked in the barn and found that Julie was getting cleaned up, I had to jump in and give her a little lovin’ too.
As we anxiously await the arrival of our 2016 foals, I will continue to post pictures and stories about the progress of our ranch babies.
