Morning Feeding on the Ranch

The January thaw may have settled in across the northern panhandle of Idaho, but the snow continues to fall here at Western Pleasure Guest Ranch.

I arrived at work just in time for the morning feeding of the ranch horses. Everyone was eager to greet me, hopefull that my presence meant food would be delivered faster. Unfortunately, I was just there to document their breakfast not serve it. Brad was throwing hay to the main herd as I walked out to the hay barn. Most of the horses jostled for the best positions and the first flakes of hay.  Others were happy to wait for easier access feed, greet me and pester each other. With an unusually warm breeze and a dusting of new snow on the ground, the scene before me warmed away all traces of winter’s chill.
