Nordic Trails & Skiing

Girls day out on hill

At Western Pleasure Guest Ranch, we have cross country ski trails for all levels with the “Meadow Loop” for beginners, the “Big Hill Loop” for a long ski through the trees and a scenic viewpoint framed by the Selkirk and Cabinet Mountains. Return to the lodge for a little relaxation in front of a warm fire. Be sure to check in at the lodge and get a trail pass.

We do not have nordic ski or snowshoe rentals. Equipment can be rented at the Tauber Farm and Nordic Center located just three miles from the ranch on Gold Creek Road or the Alpine shop in Sandpoint also has nordic equipment for rent.  If you are looking to try fatbike riding, Greasy Fingers Bikes n Repair has fatbikes for rent.

Trail Reports

January 1, 2017 – We received another 3-4 inches of powder last night. The Meadow Loop is the first to be groomed this am and the Big Hill trail will be freshly groomed by this afternoon. Conditions are windy with some drifting snow.

December 29, 2016 – New snow, a great base and freshly groomed trails are making for some excellent ski conditions! The Meadow loop is in excellent condition with new powder falling now.  The Big Hill loop is being groomed this am as well. This back country scenic route does not have as pristine conditions as the Meadow Loop but is a beautiful ski through the woods to a viewpoint.

December 27, 2016 – We have received nearly a foot of snow over night! The groomer will be headed to groom the Meadow Loop this morning. With this much new snow, we are hopeful that the Big Hill Loop will be ski-able by tomorrow. Stay tuned for more updates throughout the day!

December 26, 2016 – The Meadow Loop was groomed this morning making for great classic and skate skiing. Our new 9 foot groomer is doing an excellent job at grooming this trail. The Big Hill Loop is packed and ready for snow shoeing or fat biking riding.  We do not have quite enough snow to groom this trail yet, but if you are looking for more of a back country adventure, you can ski this trail.

December 22, 2016 – Welcome to the 2016/2017 Nordic Ski Season! The Meadow trails have been groomed and tracks are set for Classic Skiing. These are early season conditions! You will experience some grass on the route but the colder temperatures have made for a great base. The weather forecast is calling for continued cooler temps and snow throughout the weekend.  Come join us for Classic or Skate Skiing at the ranch!
